WAKEBOARDING
It all began 20 years ago with one simple aim: to have fun. What could be done in the wake of a motor boat at full power? All surfers and skaters put their heads together; they blended a skateboard and a surfboard and came up with a great sport to be practised on flat waters. Once that was accomplished, the idea of jumping into the air without losing the board became a reality. A dose of imagination, hour after hour in the workshop and a pair of footstraps (wide enough to hold the feet), and soon enough they were flying from foam to foam and having fun as never before in the wake of a motor boat! But this was just the beginning: a new sport was about to be born.
Thanks to the foresight and passion a few put into this project we can all enjoy a great sport in which fun, excitement, adrenaline and your imagination are united to create a spectacular authentic Wakeboarding session!
It was only a matter of time for new boards and straps to be developed in an attempt to reach the perfection we now enjoy under our feet.
Proof of the fact is the new "Substance Series 2005" from Liquid Force. It serves all aspects and levels: no need to be a Pro to know you're on a masterpiece. Fun and easy to handle, this was the one chosen by Las Antípodas for 2005

WAKE-SKATE
If you think that skateboarding is a sport for splatting your body on tarmac then you haven't yet met Wake-skating!
Ollies, Kick-flips, 180º, grabs, 360º ... and a whole repertoire of manoeuvres you can only begin to imagine can now be practised on water! We can guarantee that falls are a lot less painful!
We now have the new Liquid Force Wake-skate 2000 boards: much better pop, more stability, easier to handle ... and best of all a 3D sponge pad for better foothold and safety. (The first models were rough-coated like the skateboards so you can imagine what it did to your skin!).
You need to get the hang of it although it doesn't require a high level; if you enjoy skateboarding you must try wakeskating!
These new boards will open your eyes to what Wake-skating can be!

WAKE-SURF
Wake-surfing was born from a passion for surfing. 20 years ago, on calm days when waves were nowhere to be seen, surf lovers had to find an alternative to the forced inactivity that used to drive them crazy; thus they began surfing in the wake of a motor boat. The idea evolved over the years and became what we now know as "wakeboarding". However, wakeboarding soon began to look more like snowboarding than what the original idea had been. Nowadays the manoeuvres have become more and more radical, with spectacular jumps and rotations which make the use of boots (bindings) a must.Wake boards are now short and symmetrical to make them easy to handle.
The point is that the real essence of the history of surfing was being forgotten, hence it became essential to create an alternative so as to permit surfing when waves were absent.
So there it is...after many years... WAKE-SURF HAS RETURNED!!! From the hands of one of the best board Shapers in the world: Jimmy Redmon, from Liquid Force, who has created the final weapon for surfing the neverending wave of a motor boat wake.

This year the Las Antipodas School has had the privilege of including Christian Hafeez Ekander -also known as 'Ras'- on the team as monitor for the wakeboard courses. This professional rider, Hawaian Champion and Asian ex-champion for Wakeboard will be your maestro on any of the wakeboard, wake-skate or wake-surf courses. His experience and advice will make this sport feel like childplay to you.
The Hawaian Christian Ekander has dedicated his life to extreme sports, professionally specialising in Skate-Downhill and Wakeboard. He has travelled around the whole world practising all kinds of risky sports: surf, skate, snowboard, motocross, kitesurf, climbing, etc... His favourite phrase:
"Face your fears to live your dreams"
With him as monitor you are in for quite an experience!
